Job Summary

Optimum’s NOC Engineer – Networking specialists provide second level support for our customers and internal network infrastructure. This role requires advanced technical knowledge to prevent, troubleshoot, and resolve network outages efficiently with a focus on delivering an excellent experience for our internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other NOC teams to diagnose and resolve service-impacting issues, perform advanced triage and remediation, and provide technical guidance on various product offerings, including but not limited to Internet, Video, Voice, Wi-Fi and Fiber internet connectivity. This role is also vital in ensuring the uptime and performance of internal systems and applications that rely upon Optimums network backbone and internal connectivity.

Responsibilities Conduct daily network monitoring and alarm administration using Network Management Systems (NMS) to identify faults, initiate the restoration process and ensure system availability and reliability   Prioritize the health of the network by mitigating issues promptly, utilizing a variety of tools such as Splunk, SevOne, Netscout, and Transport systems.    Provide support for provisioning issues related to Internet, VOIP, Cable, FTTH infrastructure.   Monitor and identify problems with respect to Network Backbone, RF Plant and CMTS/Hardware and Transport.  Perform necessary checks to validate outage resolutions.  Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Vendors to identify and resolve issues related to network connectivity and performance.   Serve as a technical escalation point for NOC Operators and customer care teams to triage/fix customer escalations.   Responsible for deployment of network software upgrades including patches and packages as directed.  Monitors daily platform change requests to prevent, detect and resolve issues affecting network performance and availabilty that result for shceduled changes to our internal and customer facing network infrastructure. y.  Rotating shifts may be required due to 24x7 monitoring environment.  Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Communications or relevant experience 3+ years of experience with network administration required Experience working in an NMS environment for a Network Service Provider or ISP CCNA certification is required. CCNP certification is preferred Experience with Fault, Performance and Log monitoring systems such as Netcool, Netscout, SevOne and Splunk Basic to moderate knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, RIP, ACLs, Routing, DHCP, IP Subnetting and DOCSIS Basic to moderate level knowledge of Cisco CLI and other network infrastructure management interfaces Experience in monitoring data center infrastructure including network and transport devices Self-motivated, with a sense of urgency and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly triage and prioritize tasks, multitask across various tools/issues, and communicate effectively Ability to multitask and manage multiple concurrent activities of basic to moderate complexity with minor supervision Teamwork skills, a positive attitude and a solid work ethic Ability to professionally interact and communicate with senior staff and technical/engineering personnel Desire to provide exceptional service to internal and external customer Strong Organizational skills

 

Schedule Requirements:  
This position supports 24/7/365 operations which requires flexibility, as work hours may vary periodically based on business needs. Candidates should be prepared for occasional adjustments to their schedule, including potential days, evening or overnight shifts. Schedule changes may be required to ensure continuous coverage during holidays, vacations, and other business demands. Rotating standby role may be required as directed by management.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00 - $126,684.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
