Non-Certified Scrub Tech Labor & Delivery (Casual Call)
Position Summary: The non-certifed Surgical Technologist, an allied health professional, is an integral part of the team providing surgical care to patients. Surgical Technologists function in the role of scrub person. Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of the surgeon and the RN to ensure that the O.R. environment is safe, equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Minimum Qualifications: Required + High School Diploma or Equivalent + Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program, current student taking required courses toward a surgical technologist program , or two (2) years of experience working as a scrub person in an acute care operating room. + American Heart Association BLS Preferred + Certified Surgical Technologist + One (1) year of surgical technologist experience in acute care operating room Essential Job Functions: In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements. + Maintenance of strict aseptic technique. + Demonstrates knowledge and judgement in meeting the needs of the surgical patient. + Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. + Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, solutions needed for procedure. + Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and at appropriate intervals per policy. + Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. + Helps in draping the sterile field. + Passes instruments, etc. to surgeon/assistant during procedure. + Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. + Prepares sterile dressings. + Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities + Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times + Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality + Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment + Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized at Bozeman Health + Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills + Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines Schedule Requirements + This role requires regular and sustained attendance. + The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. + On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs. Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed. Various chemicals and medications are used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases are caused by contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
