Summary This job opportunity is for an NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, position description D2320000, within the 177th MXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to inspect aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. Responsibilities As an NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-10, you will: Determines test method, and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection. Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems. Applies magnetic particle and/or liquid penetrant inspection to detect and interpret the relevancy of flaws in a variety of parts. Uses and maintains tools. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Maintains records and documents actions. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Area of Consideration: CAT 4: Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey Air National Guard. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications General Experience: Must have the following experience(s): Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to set up and operate test equipment Use test apparatus to apply tests to material or products, record readings, observe and record established reactions, and classify according to defined categories. Specialized Experience: Must have the following experience(s): Experience or training in using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws. Classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies, and recommending courses of action for items of equipment Recommending engine components to be inspected and forwarding results to the appropriate authority. Performing scheduled inspections of testing equipment ensuring compliance with established technical regulations and procedures.
