Nonsterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician
Job Title: Nonsterile Compounding Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description As a Nonsterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will read prescriptions, interpret physician intent, and process prescriptions in The Compounder system precisely and efficiently under Pharmacist supervision. You will prepare the correct formula log sheet for standard items, refer non-standard items to the Compounding Pharmacist, and accurately and efficiently compound orders following formulas. This includes mixing, packaging, labeling, and associated record-keeping. You will work with the pharmacist to maintain ingredient, equipment, and batched product inventories at acceptable levels, and ensure all activities are followed and recorded within the appropriate monitoring and compliance system. Additionally, you will provide prompt, friendly service to clients, handle patient complaints, and engage in continuous improvement and education of techniques and processes. Responsibilities + Correctly read prescriptions, interpret physician intent, and process prescriptions in The Compounder system under Pharmacist supervision. + Prepare the correct formula log sheet for standard items and refer non-standard items to the Compounding Pharmacist. + Accurately and efficiently compound orders following formulas, including mixing, packaging, labeling, and record-keeping. + Present orders and supporting items to the pharmacist in an ordered, logical manner for final check prior to dispensing. + Work with the pharmacist to maintain ingredient, equipment, and batched product inventories at acceptable levels. + Conduct oneself in a manner upholding the moral and ethical practice of the pharmacy. + Provide prompt, friendly service to clients and handle patient complaints in a caring and efficient manner. + Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly activities are followed and recorded within the appropriate monitoring and compliance system. + Engage in continuous improvement and education of technique and processes. + Actively work with the non-sterile compounding team to identify areas of improvement. + Actively look for and immediately report any insanitary conditions observed or potentially developed. Essential Skills + USP797 + Pharmacy + Sterile Compounding Additional Skills & Qualifications + Ability to work and communicate well with pharmacists, peers, and superiors in a cordial and professional manner. + Excellent listening and communication skills. + Detail-oriented and inclined to make few mistakes. + Committed to close follow-up and completion of all assigned tasks. + Demonstrate teamwork and initiative. + Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. + Ability to understand Microsoft Office software, QS-1, Compounder. + Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax, and telephone. + High School Diploma or equivalent. Work Environment You will be working in a closed-door specialty compounding pharmacy from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in an aseptic environment. The pharmacy is currently going through an expansion project, opening a new location across the street, providing opportunities for internal growth.
