North American Wind Tunnel Supervisor

Are you ready to change the way the world moves? **In this position…** The VEV Organization is looking to fill the Wind Tunnels (WTs) Operations Supervisor position. The WTs are responsible for full vehicle testing of various critical systems, including powertrain, climate control, aerodynamic, thermal management, and acoustic performance for all North American programs, as well as several global programs. The successful candidate will directly manage the operations team for all North American Wind Tunnels, overseeing test operations, purchasing, safety, instrumentation, and test scheduling. Additionally, they will act as the liaison with purchasing service companies for personnel working at the site. The test sites for the WTs organization are in Dearborn and Allen Park, MI. Daily responsibilities will include supporting test operations activities, maintaining and sustaining facilities, and ensuring the safety and security of all personnel. **What you'll do…** + Directly manage a team of operations staff comprised of Ford and purchased service personnel + Collaborate with multiple departments and teams to ensure test site capability and readiness, both present and future + Manage resources to meet all local, state, federal, and corporate regulatory compliances + Lead processes and resources to enable Test Operations to deliver efficient and effective full-vehicle testing + Lead team in standardization of calibration and assist with facility sustainment processes + Co-lead / develop capital projects including business justification + Manage budgets and timing commitments + Implement tools and resources to reduce test operator and customer touch points; reduce void test rate and proliferate new technologies across wind tunnels footprint + Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure a high performance, service **-** oriented work environment to effectively achieve business strategies + Support Public Relations and Outreach Programs – site tours, college universities, etc. + Lead decision making and direction setting within team structure + Foster an effective partnership approach with critical/key suppliers to achieve business deliverables + Provide consultation and mentoring for staff personnel + Establish direction, communication, standards, and governance for new technologies, methodologies, and processes + Consult with peers to communize, align, and optimize strategic solutions – local and regional (Global) **You'll have...** **Minimum** **Education, Experience, and Core Qualifications** + BS in Engineering Discipline required, MS a plus + 10+ years’ progressive responsibilities in laboratory testing environment + Demonstrated experience/application of team leadership + Applied understanding of data acquisition, control systems fundamentals, FMEA, G8D, and process control methodology + Working knowledge of laboratory testing procedure execution. + Project management experience delivering effective sustainment strategies + Experienced in document preparation/writing with ability to compose clear content suitable for all audiences **Leadership Skills** + Ensure process discipline and accountability for all team members + Courage to deliver service-based results based on metrics and supporting data + Excellent networking and relationship building skills + Proven ability to collaborate + Passion for building functional and technical excellence + Ability to foster team and individual staff personal growth + Self-motivated, with ability to perform well under pressure + Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills to meet challenges of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
