Grant Thornton is seeking a Not-for-Profit Tax Manager to join the team in Chicago.
As the Not-for-Profit Tax (NFP Tax) Manager, you’ll deliver a full range of tax services for your clients in the not-for-profit, higher education, private foundation, and healthcare industries – all with the resources, environment and support to help you excel.
You’ll collaborate with Not-for-Profit Tax team members and conduct you’ll work with a skilled team of tax professionals as we provide valued quality services to our clients, exceeding their expectations. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with clients as well as assisting to develop and supervise staff and assist in client management and practice development activities because together is how we succeed. Your day-to-day may include:
Running client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget Supervising, training, and mentoring seniors, associates and interns on tax projects and assessing performance of staff for engagement reviews; performing in-charge role as needed Reviewing tax returns done by seniors, staff and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gaining increasing responsibility in review process Researching and consulting on various tax matters; utilizing tax-related software to review prepared returns, and researching tax matters Assisting clients with consultative opportunities Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities Working at a client site, with your team in the office or remotely. Degree(s): Bachelor's degree in Accounting 5+ years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience; experience in large firm public accounting exempt organization practice experience is a plus Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Excellent organizational and time management skills Professional, dependable, enthusiastic Certifications: CPA (JD accepted with public accounting experience) Previous experience in tax compliance, federal tax returns, and state tax returns Ability to supervise staff and lead projects Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CCH Integrator and Axcess Tax software or GoSystems Can travel as needed. Expect 10% Ability to work additional hours as needed
The base salary range for this position in the Chicago office only is between $112,000 to $168,000.
