Waste Connections is looking for a Landfill Gas Technician to join the Sun Country Materials C&D Disposal Facility team in Riverview, FL.
This will be a typically Monday – Friday position working 7am to 5pm, some weekend work may be required on an as needed basis, approximately 50-hour work week. Plus year round OT. Plus $5,000 Stay On Bonus!
Responsibilities include:
Ensure the Facility’s gas collection and control system (GCCS) remains in compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations.Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the GCCS facility and document.Work with Region Engineers, District Manager and Landfill Operations Manager to ensure compliance.Maintain relationships with other Facility employees as well as consultants, vendors, and contractors. Oversee and coordinate work with vendors and contractors.Assist in Facility environmental reviews and audits.Use gas analyzers, equipment, probes, instruments, etc… to monitor gases in the field.Performing maintenance on pneumatic, electrical and other types of pumps, switches, etc.Position Requirements:
Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervisionWork outdoors for most of the day. Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day. Traversing 3:1 slopes and able to walk on inclined surfaces.Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, federal, state and local regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Experience operating hand, power tools, forklift (telehandler), and man-lift.Provide on-call response to the system. Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.Must be mechanically proficient in a variety of systems and field instruments.Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions. Ability to prepare reports at the state or local levels.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Good communication and organizational skills.VETERANS are encouraged to apply.Ideal candidates will possess:
