NP/PA, General Surgery

General Surgery is recruiting for an NP/PA to join the service line. This position will be responsible for caring for acute general surgery patients within the hospital, emergency department, and clinic. The ideal candidate is a person who thrives in a highly collaborative environment. This person will work with a multi-disciplinary team of general surgery and trauma staff, surgical residents, medical/surgical sub-specialties, nurses, and rehabilitation staff.

 

Basic duties include managing an acute care general surgery service. This includes seeing new consultations in both the emergency room and hospital, rounding on hospital patients, complex care coordination, as well as outpatient clinic practice. There are teaching opportunities as well. In addition, the NP/PA will support the general surgeon team with doing H&Ps, consultations, treatment planning, pre- and post-op care, and collaboration of care post-hospital discharge. Work hours will include four 10-hour day shifts with a rotation of Monday through Sunday; rotation includes an average of every third weekend. A Wisconsin license and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program is required.

Must have completed an accredited program and be eligible to obtain a license to practice in our multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations.  Advanced practice clinicians work under the direct supervision of a physician.  Clinician staff may need to provide outreach service as part of their role in the system.  Teaching students, residents, fellows or clinical staff is cornerstone to our Medical Education philosophy and an expectation of all clinicians.
