Summary:

Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in a private office setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Supports physician(s) to develop and maintain patients. Provides office coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including facilitating hospital admissions and prescriptive authority. Incorporates current research findings into clinical practice; participates in pertinent areas of clinical research, disseminating findings.

Education & Experience:

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required. Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or 2 years experience as a PNP or FNP in a primary care setting is strongly preferred.

Physician Assistants

Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and a minimum of two years of Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in a related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with a high volume of pediatric patients) strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses

Current Texas professional registered nurse licenseCurrent Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse licenseCertified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) requiredCurrent Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.

Physician Assistants

Current Texas professional physician assistant license                                         Certified as a PA-CCurrent Basic Life Support (CPR) requiredCurrent Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
