The Pre-Admission Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner provides direct care functions including, but not limited to pre-operative history and physical exams, ordering medications and lab testing, and education of the patient and family in regards to pre-surgical assessment. Knowledge necessary to perform these functions include: skills in evaluating laboratory data, EKG, and diagnostic studies interpretation; skills in assessing, planning and implementing a plan of care in anticipation for surgery for patients and families, while collaborating with nursing staff, physicians and ancillary staff, practice protocols as designated in agreement with supervising/collaborating physician.

Nurse Practitioner First Assist: Current New York State RN license; experience in pertinent areas of nursing practice; graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred; National certification as Nurse Practitioner or active pursuit within one year.
