We seek an exceptional individual to join the engineering team as a NPI Engineering Manager focusing on new product development. The successful applicant must possess a background as a design engineer of consumer products, an analytical and creative mind, a willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment, and an outstanding work ethic.
Responsibilities Manage the development effort of multiple products simultaneously ensuring cost, schedule, and performance requirements are met. Work with Product Managers to define new product and project requirementsLead brainstorm sessions with design and engineering teamsConceptualize mechanical solutions both alone and with the design teamManage the construction of prototypesReview, test, and draw conclusions from prototypes and samplesUsing CAD software, develop 3D models of parts and assemblies Perform theoretical engineering analysis on prospective designsDevelop engineering drawings that communicate applicable information for manufacturing and assemblyInterface with manufacturers to define part manufacturability and acceptability Review off-tool samples and inspection reports while working to resolve manufacturing issuesInterface with operations team to coordinate product launchManage engineers within the Design StudioManage external engineering consulting resourcesRefine internal product development processes Qualifications Minimum 12 years experience as a design engineer in product development. Established record successfully developing products similar to those at HumanscaleExceptional understanding of mechanisms and mechanical systems Skilled using 3-D modeling software such as SolidworksSkilled engineering parts using most common manufacturing processes and materialsSkilled working with manufacturers to creating suitable engineering drawingsSkilled working directly with overseas vendors to solve manufacturing issuesAbility to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences through various media, including;Clear and concise languageDrawing skillsDigital image manipulationClear and professional emailsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent work experienceAbility to lift 60 poundsMust be able to do repetitive bending and stretching
