Job Description
Perform as the technical team leader while interfacing with customers and suppliers on product performance. Serve as the primary contact with customers on quality issues. Responsible for the development of customer-specific Quality Program Plans. Conduct P.O. and SOW reviews to ensure compliance and/or take exceptions as required to ensure compliance with customer specifications. Lead the team in manufacturing and production readiness reviews. Responsible for generating and approving AS9102 FAI’s to contract and prints. Participate actively with program teams to drive high product quality, continuous improvement, and increased customer satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesReview quality and product data to ensure conformance to specifications.Analyze process, product, and component performances to identify continuous improvement opportunities.Establish and implement statistical process controls.Manage, analyze, and publish Quality Assurance Performance Reports for assigned projects, including process yields, defect/root cause analyses, and associated corrective actions.Lead failure analysis efforts on systemic non-conformances and field returns, implementing appropriate corrective actions.Generate procedures, process alerts, deviations, purges, and other process documentation.Perform MRB review and engage Team/Customer as required to disposition product.Evaluate, approve, implement, and verify ECO’s.Design and implement methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of products and production equipment.Analyze reports and returned products and recommend corrective actions.Evaluate new quality standards as required.Create safe launch and control plans for new products.Prevent defects during NPI builds by performing hands-on inspections and validations as required to ensure that products are built correctly.Provide guidance and direction for NPI quality tech and other resources to inspect or perform other quality functions during NPI builds.Evaluate and complete quality section of ECRs.Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum three years of process/quality engineering experience with electronic components and assemblies in a high reliability industry.In-depth understanding of high-mix/low-volume manufacturing.Hands-on technical experience with SMT assembly processes and requirements, including AS9100/9102; IPC-610; and J-STD-001.Knowledge and experience performing full/partial FAI’s per AS9102.Knowledge of Corrective Action and failure reporting processes.Experience with document collection, hardware hierarchy, and specification reviews with customers.Ability to implement Statistical Process Control.Knowledgeable of Lean/Six Sigma principles and application methods.Experience with continuous flow manufacturing using Lean techniques.Experience with implementing Lean tools/methods (Standard work, 5S, cells, TPM, 1 piece flow, Set Up reduction, Poka Yoke).Experience with process improvement changes.Familiarity with work standards and visual manufacturing instructions.Excellent skills with MS Office programs.Experience working with MRP systems and inventory availability analysis.Strong interpersonal skills and team building skills.Ability to operate independently or as a team as the work dictates.Possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance.Work Environment
Full Onsite. Reporting to NPI Manager with 7 other engineers on the team. 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
