NPI Specialist (Internal candidates only)

The NPI Specialist supports the NPI Team and NPI processes by participating in product quoting (RFQ/RFP) to create accurate SMT labor estimates, analysing customer designs to predict and resolve issues prior to manufacturing, and participating in post-build reporting and analysis to identify and resolve action items. This role will interface with Program Teams, Engineering, and Production teams to support NPI builds and help transition product to regular production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Act as one of the initial technical interfaces for new products.
+ Support Program Management, Engineering, and Production through the NPI life cycle which includes NPI and Pilot builds.
+ Perform efficient and effective review of technical documentation including BOM, PCB data, and engineering drawings to assist in product quotes and to help determine best manufacturing processes.
+ Evaluate customer designs for manufacturability feedback (DFM) to improve manufacturing quality and reduce lead times and labor cost.
+ Analyze, modify, and create PCB panel-array designs and drawings that best fit the manufacturing process using CAD/CAM and drawing software
+ Participate in quality issue investigations, working with Engineering to problem solve and root cause.
+ Support Production during key NPI builds through issue escalation and as a technical resource.
+ Help to identify and implement improvements to work instructions, processes, and process flows.
+ Drive continuous improvement by identifying and realizing opportunities within the NPI process.
+ Be a willing contributor in all continuous improvement, training, and other workplace programs.
+ Follow all state, federal, and local employment laws and all Vanguard work rules, policies, and procedures.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School Diploma, GED, or demonstrated Equivalent experience.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills (English).
+ Strong attention to detail and data management skills.
+ Ability to work and effectively communicate across multiple teams including Program Management, Quality, Engineering, and Production.
+ Proficient in basic computer systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in New Product Introduction processes.
+ Familiarity with PCB fabrication and PCB assembly (PCBA) processes.
+ Experience with CAD and Gerber tools for viewing PCB design data.
+ Ability to understand and actively follow detailed directions, both written and verbal.
+ Intermediate experience with Excel, including tables, formulas, lookups, mathematical and logical functions (VLOOKUP, MATCH, IF, etc.).
+ Experience with interpreting customer/product drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
+ Ability to use metric and standard measuring systems and understand X-Y-Z coordinates.
+ Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, with the ability to escalate issues in a timely fashion.
+ Demonstrates technical curiosity & aptitude with a strong sense of initiative and a capacity to learn independently.
+ Displays high-level critical thinking, analysis, and organization.
+ Ability to present and communicate technical items to various audiences, including new employees, customers, and auditors.
+ Flexibility and service-oriented attitude.
+ Communicate in person, over the phone, email, internet, or in writing in a positive and professional manner always
+ Ability to work with minimal supervision and make productive use of time
+ Experience in an ISO9001, ISO13485, and/or AS9100 and AS9102 certified quality management system.
+ Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-600, ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards
+ 2+ years’ experience in an electronics manufacturing company.
+ 1+ years’ experience working with NCMR, MRB, CAPA/FRACA systems.
