**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE:
This role will be responsible for supporting communication efforts, both internally and externally, relating to the NSF OPAL design project awarded to the University of Rochester at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (UR/LLE) The project will design a new, world-leading, high-power laser user facility with two new 25-PW lasers coupled to OMEGA EP to achieve and study extreme physical conditions. This new facility will support users currently using current OMEGA EP and new users. A qualified candidate will have experience crafting clear and compelling messages for outreach to diverse audiences, and managing correspondence.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Develop, write, and edit materials for internal and external communications, such as newsletters, website content, and emails.
+ Manage and update the projects website content and email service contact lists to ensure consistent messaging and engagement.
+ Coordinate content with appropriate technical stakeholders to ensure accuracy and clarity, as well as streamline communication processes and workflows.
+ Assist in the preparation and organization of events associated with the project, including coordination of logistics and necessary materials.
+ Stay current on communication trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve the effectiveness of communication strategies.
+ Support cross-functional teams in executing projects related to communications.
+ Prepare project updates and reports for management or team review.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
+ 2+ years of experience in communications, administrative support, or a related role.
**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and social media platforms.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
+ High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
**PREFFERED SKILLS**
+ Experience with content management systems (CMS) or email marketing platforms.
+ Experience with WordPress or other web design tools.
+ Experience in event planning and coordination.
