JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Performs routine tests, incidental maintenance, electrical switching, and other activities necessary to ensure continuity of power generation. Operates all plant auxiliary equipment that is not normally operated from the control room. Performs periodic inspections of all assigned equipment spaces. Assures compliance with all applicable regulations and procedures. Is thoroughly familiar with the conditions and limitations of equipment operation, out of specification indications, logs, and surveillances.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports any abnormal plant or equipment conditions and takes appropriate action to mitigate the consequences. Monitors running equipment and systems, collect data on various plant parameters, and performs valve lineups. Performs technical reviews of procedures and other documents. Utilizes conservative decision making and human performance tools. Utilizes the station's corrective action programs to address issues and opportunities for improvement. Identifies problems, defects, and failures that degrade plant equipment integrity and reliability. Assists Engineering with test specifications and performance. Performs technical reviews of procedures and other documents. Recommends changes in plant procedures, personnel, operation, and equipment status to maximize plant and personnel efficiency. Uses the ECI process, as appropriate. Participates in pre- and post-job evolutions. Actively participates in training and personnel development opportunities. Performs routine servicing of equipment including lubrication, wiping of residual oil and ensures fluid leakage is properly contained and managed. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Highly Preferred:  B.S. Degree in Engineering, other scientific disciplines generally associated with power plant operations, or military nuclear experience is highly desired but not required.

Minimum experience required of the position
1 year operations experience or 1 year of commercial nuclear power operations experience or a related vocational, trade school, apprentice program, or equivalent military training. Experience in nuclear power plant operations. Acceptable power plant operations experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or technical training.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Ability to make semi-technical calculations involved in the test equipment area. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Be familiar with company safety rules. Ability to read prints, verbal comprehension, and the ability to troubleshoot plant equipment.

The qualifications of personnel described below are for the licensed operators and journeymen level personnel. Individuals in training or apprentice positions are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated in order to obtain the required experience.

 

Technicians.

 

Technicians shall have 3 years of working experience in their specialty of which 1 year should be related technical training. They should possess a high degree of manual dexterity and ability and should be capable of learning and applying basic skills.

For Journeyman level only (not entry level requiring training): Candidates for this position must meet requirements specified in ANSI/ANS Standards and Regulatory Guidelines. In addition, site Technical Specifications, FSAR, or procedures may contain additional requirements. Hiring Managers are required to submit attachment 9.1 from EN-HR-137 for any candidate selected for this job.

Successful completion of the EEI POSS (Plant Operator Selection System) test.
