**Job Title:** Nuclear Materials Technical Leader III **Location:** Charlotte, NC, Remote/Home Based **Job Summary and Description:** The EPRI International Materials Research (IMR) team is seeking a Principal Technical Leader to lead and manage research and development projects designed to improve the performance and extend the operating life of the existing international nuclear power fleet (including BWR, PWR, VVER, and CANDU reactor designs) and to support materials characterization for new light/heavy water reactor technologies. **Key Responsibilities and Requirements:** + Plan and manage technical R&D projects in the area of materials ageing management, including mechanical testing, materials characterization, and data analysis. + Develop and maintain research areas related to materials degradation in nuclear power plants, such as environmentally assisted cracking (including fatigue), fracture mechanics, and advanced characterization techniques. + Maintains familiarity with the progress and problems in assigned technical areas and support identification of gaps. + Provide technical support to EPRI colleagues in developing and managing collaborative R&D projects and programs. + Work with utility advisory members to oversee strategic direction of projects and to implement R&D results. + Works independently on technical activities without direct supervision. + Prepares project proposals, technical publications/papers, and makes presentations. **Education:** + Advanced degree in Materials, Corrosion, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + 10 or more years of applied engineering or research and development project experience in the nuclear industry. + Understanding of reactor designs (PWRs, BWRs, VVERs, and CANDU reactors), reactor internal materials, fabrication methods, and operating environments. + Awareness of global/regional regulatory requirements for long-term plant operations and codes of construction/maintenance. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical issues to audiences of varying backgrounds, including utility members, contractors, and industry experts. + Ability to recognize strategic issues and projects, build collaboration, and implement research and development solutions. + Demonstrates strong project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously and driving projects to completion. The salary range for this position is $153,900 USD to $172,200 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan. This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
