Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing nuclear cardiology diagnostic studies. Employees in this position participate in the direct care of the patient and in doing so, must be competent technically as well as possess a sympathetic and understanding approach to the patients’ wellbeing. The technologist must possess the ability to function in a team environment in addition to performing tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Maintain and operate equipment, such as gamma cameras and computing systems, to acquire images, and to radiopharmaceuticals that demonstrate the perfusion and function of the heart.
Ensure the safe handling, storage and disposal of radioactive materials.
Ability to start IVs with advanced precision.
Monitor patients during stress testing on the treadmill or during pharmacological administration, with knowledge of the appropriate time to inject the radiopharmaceutical.
Must make every effort to ensure quality imaging with ability to recognize when rescanning is appropriate, or when a physician must view images before the patient leaves the department.
Explain procedures to patient and inquire about personal and family history including medications and allergies.
Ensure patient did receive correct preparation for the procedure.
Verify the patient’s medical status and ensure the patient’s comfort, privacy and safety needs are met during the procedure.
Deliver findings of procedures to physician for interpretation
Perform routine quality control and testing procedures of instrumentation, radiopharmaceuticals, data, imaging and computing systems.
Participate in quality improvement studies that measure different aspects of the lab and ensure high quality imaging and accuracy of interpretation.
Effectively uses the EPIC and ISCV systems for documentation of patient information and transferring images to ISCV.
Minimum requirements
Associates degree required
CNMT required
NMTCB and/or ARRT required within 90 days of hire
BLS within 90 days of hire
