Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a PD-Nuclear Med Technologist.

In this role, the successful candidate Provides health care services using radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs nuclear medicine procedures, and related techniques producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of a licensed nuclear practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Consistently maintaining professional attire. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. By performing all tasks in an efficient, responsible and caring manner, the employee will be dedicated to meet the needs of customers and staff. In doing so, will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care with respect to the special needs of each patient age group serviced as well as those persons with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Provides care that demonstrates ethical beliefs and respect for patient’s rights Demonstrates and participates in activities that support customer satisfaction Accepts feedback from peers and management for the purposes of improved patient care and/or department function Participates in and supports collaboratively decisions made by management Demonstrates a working knowledge of the principles, policies and procedures specific to the department and the institution Complies with staff meeting attendance requirements Selects and operates radiation detection, imaging, and/or associated equipment to successfully perform procedure. Prepares, calculates, identifies and administers radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed. Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Utilizes safety devises such as wheel locks, arm rails and step stools. Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, and provides a hard copy record of procedures to be scanned into Syngo Workflow Identifying patient. Identifying procedure to be preformed. Checking chart or prescription for order with appropriate indication Verifying pertinent clinical history. Determining utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (Gloves, mask, gown, eye shields) Verification of pregnancy status, if appropriate. Verifying Syngo Workflow for any nuclear study in progress.  Reviews chart for any specific orders. (DNR or Health proxy) Completes Syngo Workflow for completion of examination Inputs data into Syngo Dynamics for physician interpretation Verifying patient identification/checks armband. Enter in EMR education assessment Introduction to patient Procedure Explanation Provides appropriate assistance to the imaging table based on patient’s condition. Maintaining patient dignity and modesty through proper gowning and covering for the patient. Talking to the patient in a concerned, professional manner.  (Age appropriate) Utilizing standard precautions and transmission-based precautions. Providing proper instructions for moving and breathing. Assessing the patient’s condition at regular intervals. Providing for the patient’s safety and security while in the department.  Initiating the transport for timely and proper transport of patient if applicable. Relays any pertinent information to the patients’ floor nurse and other imaging modalities Notation in progress note as to completion of study

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a . Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART)
and/or Certified with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
(CNMT)
. BLS Certification
. New York State License in Nuclear Medicine
. Completion of an approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55.20 - $61.27 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
