This role includes preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout the testing process. The Nuslear Medicine Technologist I is also responsible for maintaining accurate records of procedures, adhering to safety standards, and conducting routine quality control checks on equipment. **Essential Functions** + Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers, staff, physicians, leaders, and administration. + Correctly identifies and uses appropriately personal protective equipment. + Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations and ensures continuity of professional care. + Ensures supplies and equipment for patient care are readily available and organized in an efficient manner. + Uses equipment safely, adhering to policy, guidelines and/or protocols set by the hospital and department. + Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in all aspects of nuclear medicine and therapy applications. + Performs emergency procedures utilizing approved protocols. + Demonstrates skill and knowledge to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing scans with initiative to obtain additional scan, view, or technique as required to provide as much information as possible to the radiologist/cardiologist. + Utilizes appropriate technical components, correct exposure, safety and age consideration factors for each patient. + Demonstrates awareness and adheres to safety and legal requirements including but not limited to monitoring personal radiation dose + Performs all QC, keeps proper documentation for NRC/State regulatory agencies and inspections + Adheres to appropriate procedures on proper disposal of radioactive materials in accordance with regulatory compliance. + Orders and prepares radiopharmaceuticals and administers to patient intravenously or orally according to established policies and procedures and exhibits knowledge of expected actions and potential effects. + Assesses patient condition prior to administering a radiopharmaceutical in order to assure appropriateness of examination. + Instructs patients on the requirements for the procedure(s) ordered. + Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed. + Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements. + Responds to isotope spills in an expedient manner, reports to RSO or designee, follows spill protocol + Reports any misadministrations to RSO, Imaging Director and follows any reporting protocols + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + Associate Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology required + Bachelor's Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and/or nuclear medicine technology program with Nuclear Medicine registry preferred + 0-1 years Clinical experience acquired through the completion of an accredited nuclear medicine or radiologic technology program required + 2-4 years experience as a nuclear medicine technologist in an acute care hospital setting preferred **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area + Knowledge of medical equipment, instruments, and related functionalities + Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine techniques, methods, and equipment + Knowledge of principles and procedures involved in the operation of radiologic equipment + Knowledge of radiation safety principles and procedures + Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine & PET-CT quality control and quality assurance + Knowledge of structural and organic anatomy including cross-sectional anatomy + Knowledge of the principles of image processing and reconstruction + Ability to perform standard diagnostic procedures using radioactive isotopes and to prepare reports + Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing + Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions + Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills + Ability to work effectively as a team player + Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups, including individuals at all levels within and outside the organization and gaintheir cooperation + Strong oral and written communications skills + Excellent problem solving skills + Strong ability to handle multiple priorities + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision + Ability to follow written and oral instructions **Licenses and Certifications** + ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required and + Licensed Radiologic Technologist As required by state required and + BCLS - Basic Life Support required + NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech preferred **We know it’s not just about finding a job.
