Responsibilities

The Staff Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs departmental Nuclear and PET/CT examinations assists the radiologist during procedures and produces high quality images. The technologist follows the standards established by the radiologist and such state local and federal standards which may apply. Serves the following age – specific patient populations: pediatrics adolescents adults and geriatrics.

Uses two patient identifiersCompares doctor’s order to requisition for accuracyAssesses patient for possible artifacts and takes appropriate action to prevent interference with imageCalculates prepares and administers proper patient dose and correct radiopharmaceutical according to dept. standard.Properly disposes of radioactive waste contaminated lines and spent radiopharmaceuticalsRoutinely demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload.Coordinates multiple exams into the proper sequence to ensure no conflicts of exams.Assesses the doctor’s order and the patient’s diagnosis to determine optimal images.Assesses patient’s condition comfort and safety during procedures.Observes and reports to physician any change in patient’s condition during the procedure.Communicates accurate patient information in a timely manner to peers physicians and other departments.Uses all diagnostic computer and communication equipment within safe limits.Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent

Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

CNMT within 3 months of hire.
