**Job Summary**
To prepare administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies, including the performance and management of nuclear medicine technology sub-specialty imaging and non-imaging procedures. This position is dedicated to research studies, and it will involve the administration of novel isotopes. This position will also include responsibilities required as a part of clinical trials.

**Responsibilities***
+ Operates nuclear medicine imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by qualified physicians.
+ Operates ancillary nuclear medicine equipment to collect and prepare patient data on non-imaging studies for interpretation by qualified physicians.
+ Prepares and calculate proper doses of radioactive isotopes for administration to patients.
+ Explains examination procedure to patient and family, if present.
+ Maintains records of test results, utilization and disposition of isotopes and radioactive materials and calculate test results.
+ Assists Patients in proper positioning.
+ May be responsible for implementation of new procedures relevant to specialty.
+ May perform and demonstrate technically difficult examinations and data processing as these apply to the sub-specialty.
+ Performs and maintains current quality control standards and records for equipment.
+ May supervise scheduling of nuclear medicine studies and diagnostic equipment.
+ Receives, verifies, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient?s medical record
+ Follows all radiation safety procedures and regulations.
+ Performs duties outlined within the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Scope of Practice as defined by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
+ Reviews research study and imaging protocols to assess feasibility.
+ Assists in reviewing and planning for new nuclear medicine clinical trials.
+ Coordinates research scheduling in alignment with protocols, research resources and research teams.
+ Supports data management for studies. This may include documentation of study data and transferring of data in compliance with department, university, and study requirements.
**Required Qualifications***
An Associates or bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related science field with completion of an accredited certification program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Registration as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Association for Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board is necessary within 6 months of hire.
BLS certification or eligibility for certification is necessary.
This classification requires Primary Source Verification.

**Background Screening**
