Nuclear Programs Procedure Writer (Remote)
Job Title: Engineering Nuclear Programs Procedure Writer Contract: 12-Month Remote Contract Department: Engineering Reports To: Procedure Manager Position Overview System One is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Nuclear Programs Procedure Writer to develop and maintain engineering procedures for the Natrium Demonstration Project (NDP). This role involves creating administrative and programmatic procedures that align with NRC, ASME, INPO, and EPRI standards, covering areas such as in-service testing and inspection, engineering change management, equipment performance, reliability, and predictive maintenance. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with multiple departments, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders to ensure procedural compliance and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities + Develop, organize, and track engineering procedures for the NDP Engineering Department. + Maintain and implement best practices to streamline engineering processes. + Coordinate cross-discipline procedure reviews with other departments. + Support software development and testing for engineering processes and procedural tools. + Utilize software-based platforms for electronic procedure development. + Conduct 10CFR50 and 10CFR72.48 regulatory reviews as required. + Develop high-quality procedures that mitigate safety and human performance risks. + Engage with industry organizations (ASME, NEI, EPRI, INPO) to integrate innovative procedural approaches. + Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and industry standards. + Provide training and mentorship on engineering procedure development and revision processes. + Incorporate insights from industry operating experience reports, regulatory updates, and procedural changes into engineering documentation. + Maintain an in-depth understanding of plant design, operations, and maintenance to ensure effective procedure development. + Oversee the documentation and maintenance of auditable procedure records. + Assist the Procedure Manager with department goals, budgeting, and cost estimates. + Support additional site procedure development tasks as needed. Required Qualifications & Skills + Bachelor’s degree in engineering. + 10+ years of engineering experience in the commercial nuclear power industry. + 5+ years of experience writing nuclear power plant engineering procedures. + 3+ years of experience developing engineering programs. + In-depth knowledge of nuclear power plant systems, processes, and regulations. + Strong understanding of nuclear standards, procedural compliance, and regulatory frameworks. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with software-based procedure tools (e.g., smart procedures). + Excellent technical writing, communication, and attention to detail. + Self-motivated problem solver with a commitment to procedural excellence. Work Environment & Physical Requirements + Remote role with minimal travel (0-5%). + Requires sitting or standing for extended periods, fine motor control, and typing/keyboard use. + Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.). + Standard office working conditions (>8 hours/day).
