Nuclear Quality Control Analyst

Job Description:

Mueller’s manufacturing commitment ensures one of the world’s most precious resources, clean drinking water, reaches millions of people daily.  Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being.  As a Quality Analyst, you will support the Mueller Nuclear Program by ensuring compliance, maintaining program documentation, and carrying out the requirements of the nuclear manual and applicable codes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Test and inspect products at various stages of production process and compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.Creates and maintains Doc Packet for each SO#.  Responsible for making sure Doc Packet is completed at end of job for handoff to Customer. Responsible for storing all Doc Packet copies for two years of onsite storage as well as coordinate long term storage of older documents per the document retention per the N-QAM.Create Requisitions for materials per the BOM.  Work with Nuclear Buyer/Planner for issuance of POs.Act as sole receiving agents for nuclear materials and conducts E1 transactions to move material from Nuclear Hold to Nuclear W/H.Receive, inspect, and verify material dimensions against blueprints and records inspection data on standard form.Confirms all WOs match with NMS, retrieve and print all associated drawings, confirms all customer requirements per back screen to create work packet.  Submits packet to QAM and works with QAM for final approval.Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties to appropriate department.  Coordinates flow of project through shop.Coordinates ANI inspections, sets up customer/3rd party inspections, leads FWT, completes paperwork as required, completes certification of valves, makes the decision if a part is usable or must be rejected.Controls and confirms calibration for all Quality measurement equipment.Reviews all certification paperwork from vendor supplied components and ensures all are Code/Addenda compliant for the SO#.  Works with suppliers for correction of any issues.Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems acting as engineering liaison.Perform Lead Auditor duties on supplier/self-inspection.Perform PT, MT and UT testing on welds as well as Visual Inspection.Creates requisitions for material property/chemical confirmation and inspects materials prior to outsourcing.  Documents and stores results with SO# Doc Packet.Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.Follow established safety procedures and quality standards.Participate in and represent Quality department in Kaizen events.All Quality Analysts are required to become NPI (Nuclear Product Inspectors)Maintain continuity among work shifts in pass off procedure by documenting actions, irregularities, and continuing operational needs, as well as communicating issues or irregularities to appropriate team lead or supervisor.Keep work areas and department clean and organized.Maintain safe operations by adhering to all relevant safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations and flagging any equipment or safety issues to the appropriate team lead, supervisor, maintenance, or EHS personnel utilizing “Stop, Call, Wait” procedure.Perform any other related duties as directed.

Required Skills:

Ability to read, understand and follow Purchase Order, Design Specifications and Reconcile materials to assure Standards and Codes are met.Good written and oral communication skills.Ability to utilize intermediate to advanced computer functions and programs including Microsoft SuiteAbility to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to use and read measure tools (i.e., calipers, micrometers, surface profile gauge, coating thickness gauge)Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Demonstrated aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical systemsDemonstrated interpersonal skills and team leadership

Required Education/Experience:

Associate degree preferred – or – 3–5 years of Quality department experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred:

Former certification as a Nuclear Product Inspector (NPI) is a major plus

Physical Requirements:

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment. Ability to use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects with fingers.Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach within hands and/or arm’s length.Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch. Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.Ability to ascend or descend ladders or steps in confined spaces, as required by work area.Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects between 25 and 50 pounds in weight in all directions.Ability to remain in stationary or standing position for prolonged periods and to alternate between positions as necessary.Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Ability to perform close visual inspections of products, which may include specific vision requirements.Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold).
