Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Coatings is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Process Metallurgist/Tech Rep with a focus on pre-paint products. Principal duties of the successful candidate will include:

Participating in safety and housekeeping efforts Lead process optimization activities, both quality and cost Provide technical support and training for all operational activities Utilizing statistical process control tools to direct continuous improvement activities Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure continuous improvement Handling claims and interfacing with pre-paint customers

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have metallurgical knowledge and 5 years minimum experience with steel sheet products Must have experience handling claims and interfacing with customers Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent steel production experience Preferred Qualifications: Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems Knowledge of ASTM standards related to pre-paint products Ability to work closely with teammates across functional areas to identify and correct root causes of product problems, including customer feedback and complaints Experience performing technical review of customer RFQs, responding to customer concerns or complaints, and general questions with necessary urgency Prior pre-paint experience
