General Notes

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Student Academic Success department.  Coordinates delivery of a variety of academic support programs and initiatives to undergraduate nursing majors using a nurse-centered approach. Participates in administrative duties including funding initiatives, Peer Academic Coach (PAC) supervision, collaboration with faculty and other departments as need to meet department goals. Implement and support Kaplan integration into curriculum and for the Seniors until integration is complete. Reports 50% to the LEAP Director for PAC activities and overall HR management. Reports 50% to the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs for oversight related to Kaplan integration through curriculum and communication with faculty.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with faculty and Students Services in the early identification, outreach, 1:1 in-person learning needs assessment, learning plan of action, and ongoing bi-weekly meetings to support at-risk and out of sequence students.Manages Peer Academic Coaches (PAC) to support nursing majors from their freshman II semester to graduation. Includes recruitment, training, evaluation, and scheduling of undergraduate PAC Coaches.Collaboration with non-nursing course faculty (anatomy, microbiology, etc.) for peer coaching program.Ensure all students have paid for semester access to their Kaplan platform.Collaborate with and support nursing faculty in the integration of Kaplan resources into courses under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs.Schedule NCLEX live reviews, content reviews, and other learning opportunities.Working with the LEAP director, actively seek funding to support academic support initiatives.Perform data collection needed for evaluation of program performance and quality improvement.Participates in other LEAP Department activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Texas registered nurse with unrestricted license.Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree.Minimum of five years of nursing experience.Minimum of four years in hospital-based nursing education.Experience with graduate registered nurse education preferred.

Salary Range

$73,000

Working Conditions

40 hours per week in-person; 8-hour shifts; Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm with possible evening/weekend hours.Work is performed in office, classroom, and clinical lab settings and in the community with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This is semi-sedentary work which occasionally requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
