THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Aide to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will support the implementation of personalized care plans for inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Muncy. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, providing care across various areas such as skilled care, personal care, outpatient services, and general population. Your duties will involve performing basic nursing tasks and procedures to maintain optimal inmate health, delivering quality care, and ensuring accurate documentation. You will monitor and record vital signs, height, and weight, as well as collect specimens including urine, feces, and sputum. Additionally, you will assist or complete daily living activities and hygiene tasks for inmates to meet their basic physical care needs. You will also contribute to life skills programming by following nursing care plan instructions, offering care and interventions aligned with inmate needs, and documenting the relevant aspects of the care plan.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
+ Work hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with e very other weekend and holiday off, and a 30-minute lunch.
+ Work schedules are to be determined at the time of hire.
+ This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry;or
+ Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Additional Requirements:
+ Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.

+ You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
