Position Responsibilities:

·         Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the general diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and nursing care of patients on the unit, thus facilitating interdisciplinary approach to patient care to improve patient outcomes.

·         Functions as a role model by utilizing the nursing process to deliver direct, indirect and/or consultative patient care.

·         Assists in developing, revising, and evaluating standards of care, protocols, and procedures within the specific clinical arena, based on research.

·         Serves as a clinical resource to preceptors, orientees, unit staff, educators, and students.

·         Serves as consultant to staff in other nursing units and departments.

·         Makes rounds on the nursing units, especially for high-risk groups and identifies patient, family and staff needs while assessing progress and appropriateness of therapy.

·         Maintains open communication with the interdisciplinary team regarding patient/family needs, functioning as a liaison for families of patients.

·         Clears nursing personnel in procedures as specified in established policies.

·         Collaborates with Manager of Education to design, plan, coordinate, and evaluate formal education programs for specific clinical area based on staff, hospital needs, and age specific criteria.  Maintains unit based and annual competencies for staff.

·         Provides in service programs and participates in annual employee competency available to all three shifts based on patient and staff needs.

·         Coordinates unit education on new products/equipment and performance improvement measurements.

·         Participates in Performance Improvement and Research programs.

·         Actively participates and provides guidance in collection and analysis of data, showing implementation of recommended intervention based on data analysis and evaluation of results in formal and informal staff education.

·         Assists the Nurse Manager in maintaining updated personnel's education records to comply with various regulatory requirements and professional ladder requirements.

·         Evidence of participation in local and/or national professional organizations and specialty interest groups, while maintaining national certification per nursing organization and/or specialty.

·         Serves as a resource person in all aspects of computerization of medical records, privacy and security of computerized medical record, and computerized documentation (where applicable).

·         Assists, encourages, and mentors staff/students to participate in research and/or PI projects, patient care conferences and committee(s).

·         Assists staff in the development of individualized plans of care for patients, assessing progress and appropriateness of therapy.

Qualifications:

·         Current Licensure in the State of Florida.

·         BLS required.

·         Certification, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate within 6 months of employment

·         Experience in clinical specialty of a minimum of one year.
