Are you a passionate nurse educator looking to make a significant impact? UPMC Horizon is seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator to join our team and oversee our Labor and Delivery unit. In this part time role, you'll primarily work 8-hour daylight shifts with occasional off-shift or weekend training sessions. Plus, no holiday shifts!
As a Nurse Educator at UPMC Horizon, you will develop and maintain productive relationships by mentoring and modeling positive communication. You'll lead and oversee our Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring top-notch education and support, and assist with classroom trainings to enhance the professional development of our care team members. Collaboration with unit leadership and the education team will be key to delivering impactful learning experiences.
You'll actively participate in quality improvement efforts and utilize evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care. Mentoring new staff members and serving as a resource for patients, nursing staff, and other disciplines will be part of your role. Additionally, you'll facilitate orientation and continuing education programs to improve patient care and promote clinical excellence. Taking a leading role in major hospital-wide projects and applying innovative strategies to problem-solving will also be essential.
We prefer candidates with at least 3 years of labor and delivery nursing experience and previous teaching or precepting experience. A BSN is required, and an MSN is preferred.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Develop and maintain productive relationships through mentoring and positive communication, extending trust, and creating transparency.
+ Convey information clearly to engage and help the audience retain the message.
+ Participate in quality improvement efforts, identifying opportunities and utilizing evidence-based practices.
+ Receive feedback constructively and mentor new staff and preceptors.
+ Serve as a resource for patients, nursing staff, and other disciplines.
+ Participate in Performance Improvement projects and self-review to enhance skills and performance.
+ Demonstrate initiative, work independently, and prioritize department and organizational goals.
+ Obtain and maintain certifications and participate in professional and community organizations.
+ Develop coaching and feedback skills.
+ Facilitate orientation and continuing education programs, using the nursing process to teach patient care management.
+ Lead in developing nursing care standards and policies, responding to learning needs, and evaluating education programs.
+ Facilitate staff initiatives to improve patient care and comply with safety policies.
+ Demonstrate awareness of behavior impact on department efficiency.
+ Take a leading role in hospital-wide projects, applying innovative problem-solving strategies.
+ Facilitate student experiences and verify competencies of direct care staff, ensuring training addresses gaps in knowledge and skills.
+ BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)
+ Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
+ Relevant teaching experience **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireUPMC approved certification preferred

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
