Schedule Details: This is a position for any nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation and is interested in working on the cardiac unit at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Flexible schedule, must be able to commit to at least one 12 hour night shift (7pm-7:30 am) per week. Must be able to work every other weekend and a holiday grouping rotation. 

 

The Heart Care Unit is an amazing and dynamic 31 bed intermediate care unit caring for a range of higher acuity patients including heart failure, arrhythmias, chest pain, open heart surgery, cardiac procedures, stroke, and a variety of other medical conditions. All of our nursing staff becomes ACLS (and participate on the Medical Emergency response team), telemetry, and NIHSS certified. Our unit has a rich history of combining excellent patient satisfaction, technical care and patient outcomes.  We pride ourselves on our Heart Care Unit teamwork, the support we provide to new nurses, clinical advancement and the overall culture of our unit. What You Will Do:

Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the Nurse Intern will assist the nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. 

Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse. 

You Will:

 Be a nursing student having completed a minimum of one - 16 hour clinical rotation in an RN program. Be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Current employees must have an overall highly valued rating on their last performance review. Be available for New Employee Welcome (NEW) and participate in Clinical team Orientation (CTO). Must have a strong interest in customer service, able to multi task, work independently with little supervision.  Passionate about providing excellent patient care and able to demonstrate compassion at the end of life. BLS CPR certification at time of hire, or ability to obtain during orientation period.
