Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health maintenance and health education programs in the plant. Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of employees. Prepares and maintains patient clinical records. Assists in evaluating occupational health and safety efforts and recommends changes.  Participates in continuing education to update knowledge of occupational health and safety, including legal regulations applicable to health and safety. Maintains OSHA reporting requirements, tracking of all on the job injuries and maintains a working relationship with the insurance carrier for Worker's Compensation.

Core Responsibilities

Worker’s Compensation

Assists in the administration of Worker’s Compensation. 

Initiates and follows up on workers compensation claims, documents treatment plan.

Serves as liaison with insurance carrier, health provider, and company. 

Understands workers compensation law to be prepared to participate in workers compensation hearings and mediations.

Employee Illness and Injury Treatment

Assesses employee illness and injuries and administers appropriate initial and follow up treatment. 

Makes medical referrals, as needed. 

Provides and participates in employee health promotion activities.

Treatment Follow Up and Employee Health Records

Documents treatment, initiates accident investigation reports, establishes and maintains employee health records.

Employee Health Assessment

Completes the pre-placement screening process to include review of health history. 

Completes physical assessments and hearing tests. 

Administers Return to Work physicals.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure from the accrediting State government agency in the State of practice, or licensure from an accrediting State government agency in a State that reciprocates licensure through a multi-state compact.

Current certification in First Aid, CPR and AED. Instructor certification desirable.

Working knowledge of state workers compensation law.

Background in trauma nursing, Emergency Room, or critical care area, preferred.

Bilingual, preferred.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Good decision maker and ability to perform in stressful situations.

Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

The majority of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the production plant.  The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Frequently required to sit, stand, kneel, squat, bend, twist, use hands to handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
