Nurse Manager, Operating Room- MacNeal Hospital

Description:

Reporting to a Director of Perioperative Services and working under limited supervision, the Nurse Manager in the Operating Room at MacNeal Hospital assumes twenty-four (24) hour accountability for the quality of nursing care delivered on their unit and maintains clinical competence in unit nursing.  The Nurse Manager directs the delivery of competent, humane, individualized nursing care to every patient and their family. They create an environment which promotes the professional growth of the nursing staff and assists in developing and monitoring the departmental budget.

What's required:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.Master’s Degree required.  Candidates with a BSN will be considered if they are currently enrolled in an MSN program, or will commit to entering a program, and will complete within two (2) years.2-3 years of clinical nursing experience in order to acquire a knowledge of nursing theory and practice to develop clinical experience necessary to function as a role model and to evaluate quality of care and to initiate remedial action, if necessary.CPR certification at time of hire.

The advanced analytical/problem solving skills necessary to develop and administer an innovative care delivery system within the confines of staff and budget constraints, develop overall policy and procedures for the division, analyze and evaluate patient care, and plan staffing levels and patterns.The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel and with external parties, frequently in situations which are sensitive and/or of significance to the entire hospital.The managerial skills necessary to plan, organize, direct and control the operation of a large and critical Division and effectively delegate such managerial responsibilities to qualified subordinates.
