**UW Medical Center–Northwest** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Nurse Manager** to lead our **Long Term Civil Commitment Unit (5th floor)** . The Long Term Civil Commitment Unit is part of UW Medicine's Center for Behavioral Health and Learning - a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive facility designed to transform the way we approach mental health care.
The Long Term Civil Commitment Unit follows a dual management structure. One manager covers the Long Term Civil Commitment Unit 4th floor and oversees roughly 41 beds. This position will cover our 5th floor and will oversee roughly 34 beds.
**WORK SCHEDULE**
+ Full time / 100% FTE
+ Primarily Monday - Friday, but with 24/7 accountability for the delivery of care
+ Primarily day shifts, with additional hours as needed **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION**
+ The **Long Term Civil Commitment Unit** supports involuntary psychiatric admits who require extended periods of care, including those requiring multi-month hospital stays (90 to 180 days)
+ Our services include highly structured psychiatric care, services for patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and programs that promote independent functioning and transition to the community
+ Our unit has a residential feel, with ample natural light and outdoor patient areas to promote serenity, comfort, and healing
+ Our unit has 75 beds split between two floors; this position will specifically manage the 5th floor, which has 34 beds

+ Support an innovative, one-of-a-kind service for the behavioral health population
+ Lead a team of RNs and CNAs
+ Work in close partnership with a fellow Nurse Manager on a growing, dynamic unit **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Manages all day-to-day and operational functions of our 5th floor Long Term Civil Commitment Unit
+ Oversees a team of approximately 40 staff, including Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants
+ Collaborates directly with the Behavioral Health Assistant Administrator regarding access, referrals, volume development, department flow, and productivity
+ Ensures evidence-based practice is integrated into department operations
+ Ensures adherence to Compliance Program policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
+ Ensures that documentation meets current standards and policies and is completed for each visit by clinical staff
+ Ensures that the unit meets regulatory standards (e.g. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control
+ Monitors customer service initiatives to better meet needs of patients
+ Interviews and hires new staff
+ Completes regular performance evaluations for each staff member
+ Counsels employees, develops staff, and utilizes the disciplinary process when appropriate
+ Provides leadership in accordance with organizational goals and objectives **REQUIREMENTS**
+ Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
+ At least 4 years of nursing experience, including experience at the supervisory or management level
