Description:

Position Purpose: At Saint Francis Hospital, the Medical Surgical Unit provides care for adults with a variety of medical diagnoses, including diseases or disorders of the pulmonary, gastrointestinal, renal, endocrine, circulatory, neurological systems, as well as infectious diseases, dermatological disorders, and autoimmune disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of a 36+ bed Med-Surg Unit including the supervision of all staff

Provide mentoring, training, and team building to the unit staff

Assist the Director with performance improvement activities, unit and patient satisfaction, and policy development.

Ensure high-quality care standards and a safe environment, complying with infection control standards, specialty organizations, DPH, and The Joint Commission standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

Licensure: Valid and current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing management experience required; 5+ years of combined inpatient RN experience in clinical nursing and management preferred.

Certification: Current BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
