Manager Job Description - Summary of Job Function
The Head Nurse is a registered professional nurse who under the direction of the Nursing Director coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to his/her unit,
The Head Nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of age appropriate care for the unit s patient population,
Ensure that [unit/department/division] is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,
Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure
Education:
Licensed to practice Professional Nursing in New Jersey,Bachelor s degree in Nursing required,Pediatric National certification in a clinical area required- CPAN,APHON Certification within 2 years of acceptance of the position,Experience:
3-5 years relative clinical practice,Job Functions
Development/Management of PersonnelFacilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated byInterviewing and hiring licensed and unlicensed personnel in collaboration with Nursing director,Contributes to the professional growth and development of staff by:Continuously assessing patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and patterns of performance,Counseling staff on identified areas for improvement,Evaluating the staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of the performance evaluation in a timely manner,Counseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary action,Planning/coordinating unit based education programs as identified by unit needs,Considers staff participation in safety/quality initiatives when completing employee performance appraisals,Fostering Interdisciplinary Collaborative RelationshipSupport and maintain collaborative relationships with all disciplines that impacts patient care on the unit,Foster an atmosphere of positive communication on the unit,Act as a role model in customer relations,Participates in service and hospital-wide committees as assigned,Management of Patient Care Delivery Maintains clinical expertise as demonstrated by:
