Saint Alphonsus Health System leads the way in critical care throughout the Treasure Valley, and our Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit is an example of the high standard of care we provide. We’re looking for a Neuro Surgical Trauma Nurse Manager to oversee this specialized, high-acuity unit, ensuring it continues to deliver advanced, life-saving care. This is the only unit of its kind in Idaho, and you’ll be managing a team that provides specialized care to patients with complex neurological, trauma, and surgical conditions. This is an opportunity to lead a team that offers services that no other hospital in the region can match.

This position is based at our Regional Medical Center, conveniently located off I-184 and Curtis Rd.

In this role, you’ll manage Idaho’s only Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit, overseeing an ICU with 18 critical care beds and a Step-Down Unit (SDU) with 17 beds. This unit is dedicated to treating patients with complex neurological, trauma, and surgical needs, offering an unmatched opportunity to lead in critical care.

As a Nurse Manager, you’ll guide a team of skilled professionals in providing advanced care that cannot be found elsewhere in the region. Your leadership will directly influence patient care, team development, and the continued success of a unit that represents the highest standards in healthcare delivery at Saint Alphonsus.

Essential Functions:

Leadership: Join the nursing leadership team of a Level II Trauma Center and Level I Comprehensive Stroke Center, helping to shape the care provided in critical areas.

Unit Oversight: Manage the Neuro Surgical Trauma Unit, overseeing 18 critical care beds and 17 step-down beds, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Collaboration: Work closely with board-certified neuro critical care specialists, contributing to high-acuity patient care and the development of care protocols.

Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, finances, and quality improvement to ensure the unit meets its goals and delivers exceptional care.

Team Development: Mentor nursing staff, guide their professional development, and foster a supportive work environment.

Resource Management: Manage unit resources, including staffing and budget, to meet both clinical and operational needs.

Strategic Planning: Work with senior leadership and medical staff to contribute to business planning, program development, and future growth of the unit.

Relationship Building: Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and leadership to promote smooth operations and improve patient outcomes.

Compliance & Performance: Ensure that the unit complies with all regulatory requirements and contributes to the broader goals of Saint Alphonsus Health System.

Mentorship: Actively support the professional development of team members, preparing them for leadership roles and enhancing the unit’s overall capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Idaho or multistate RN license 

If you have a multistate license you would need to establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 6 months of hire 

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing 

Master’s Degree in Nursing is a plus 

Five (5) years of nursing experience

Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Willing to obtain Advance Cardiovascular Life Support for HealthCare Provider (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire and your Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 12 months of hire
