Position Summary:

Provides full scope midwifery care to obstetrical patients in accordance with approved midwifery protocols.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1.  Coordinates, directs, and implements prenatal and postpartum care.
2.  Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
3.  Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
4.  Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
5.  Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes.
6.  Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
7.  Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient’s treatment.
8.  Educates nursing students, medical students, residents and other healthcare professionals.
9.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current Texas Licensure as APRN – Nurse Midwife 
Current Nurse Midwife certification
ACLS/NRP may be obtained post-hire

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Minimum Experience:

None

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
