**Overview** These positions are for a Nurse (Oncology). Provides an advanced level of highly specialized professional nursing care to out-patients critically ill with cancer, benign and malignant blood disorders along the disease continuum from newly diagnosed through end of life care. Oversees or performs the administration and monitoring of complex antineoplastic agents, including chemotherapy regimens, monoclonal antibodies, biological therapy, novel targeted therapy (VEGF, EGFR), and other supportive medication (antiemetics, antihistamines, diuretics, narcotics, immunosuppressive drugs, immunoglobulin's, growth factors, electrolytes, oxygen, anticholinergic agents, and intravenous iron). Ensures appropriate monitoring of patients for acute treatment complications such as anaphylaxis/infusion/allergic reactions, and the extraversions of vesicant or irritant agents. Ensures patient transfer to appropriate level of care in the event that further care or observation is needed. Provides guidance and instruction on required monitoring, assessment for and treatment of toxicities caused by antineoplastic agents to the nursing staff caring for the patient. Counsels patients concerning protocols, anticipated results, procedures to be performed, possible complications, and subsequently monitors patients during chemotherapy treatments. In addition, incumbent manages such complex situations as febrile neutropenia, dehydration, organ toxicity and anaphylaxis/infusion reactions secondary to chemotherapy agents. Evaluates and coordinates all aspects of pre-and post-chemotherapy care; performs and oversees skilled practice for a variety of routine to highly complex procedures. Assists with bone marrow biopsies; and works collaboratively with medical staff in major research protocols. Monitors patients using concepts of safety in provision of patient care. Accurately interprets and executes physicians' orders and coordinates with other health care providers. Develops and/or adjusts nursing plans of care for patients; performs nursing assessment of the patient's condition, nursing diagnosis. 2. Provides orientation, formal and informal on-the-job education and training to assigned personnel. Serves as a skilled resource person with whom other unit professional and paraprofessional personnel consult on use of equipment or procedures to employ when difficult problems arise. Participates in continuing nursing educational conferences locally, regionally and nationally as appropriate. Participates in staff development, in-service and professional continuing education programs. Maintains clinic nursing SOPs and ensures current applicable policies and procedures are available. Coordinates oncology nursing services and ensures appropriate use of available clinical and administrative resources or departments as indicated throughout the facility. Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** Must be a United States Citizen Must possess a valid Registered Nurse License that has not elapsed/expired Must have an Associates, Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Nursing.This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
