Under the general supervision of the Chair, Division of Lifestyle Health and in direct collaboration with supervising physicians, performs duties to assist supervising physicians with a wide range of services. As a licensed independent practitioner, the nurse practitioner participates as a team leader and member in the provision of health and medical care, interaction with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care.

Job Description:

The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and medical care in ambulatory, acute and long term care settings. The NP is a registered nurse with specialized advanced education and clinical competency to provide health and medical care to diverse populations.The Nurse Practitioner will utilize the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing care. This process includes:Assessment and health statusDiagnosisDevelopment of treatmentImplementation of the planFollow-up and evaluation of the patient statusThe Nurse Practitioner's practice model emphasizes:Patient and family educationFacilitation of patient participation in self carePromotion of optimal healthProvision of continually competent careFacilitation of entry into the health care systemPromotion of a safe environmentEducation: Completion of a Masters' Degree in Nursing and an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.Experience: Prior relevant surgical experience required in a perioperative role or office setting.License/Certification(s):National certification required for Massachusetts licensure. Recertification as required every five years. Massachusetts licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.Basic Life Support certification required. ACLS preferred.Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration
