Nurse Practitioner, Medical Group - Cardiology, Capitol Hill MOB
Description: Job Summary:
To provide direct care to patients, under the supervision of a physician. This position is administratively supervised by the Clinical Coordinator or designee.

Essential Responsibilities:

Assesses clinical, emotional, and educational health needs of patients.
Assesses health needs of patients, including physical assessment.
Collaborates with physicians plans of care and assures appropriate follow-up including telephone contact, home evaluations and hospital rounds.
Collaborates with the physician and other clinical staff members to maintain continuity of care.
Provides ongoing emotional support of the patient and his/her family both in formal groups and at each patient encounter.
Participates in research activities.
Facilitates referrals to appropriate community agencies including hospitals.
Participates in patient education activities.
Participates in orientation and education of nursing and support staff, and nursing and other students.
Collaborates with physicians in developing and periodically reviewing protocols relevant to department functioning.
Participates in planning for team functioning in delivering the total range of health services.
Participates in monitoring quality of care according to professional standards and established criteria.
Knows limits of practice and provides appropriate referrals.
Carries out clinical and administrative procedures that may be promulgated by the Health Plan.
Performs other related duties as directed. M-F Travel to Largo on Wednesdays and travel to Gaithersburg Fridays

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Minimum one (1) year of primary care experience is required.

Education

Masters degree in Nursing required.
Graduation from a NLN accredited NP program.

License, Certification, Registration

This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.


Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within 6 months of hire

Nurse Practitioner License (Virginia) within 6 months of hire


Certified Nurse Practitioner Certificate (District of Columbia) within 6 months of hire

National Provider Identifier

Additional Requirements:

Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of primary care experience is preferred.
