NURSE PRACTITIONER, Research Occupational Health

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Boston University Occupational Health Services and in collaboration with ROHPs Medical Director, the Research Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed healthcare provider, consultant, and coordinator of care. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing direct care, medical clearance, education and support to employees and students at the Boston University research community. Works collaboratively with key stakeholders including Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Research Compliance and Biosafety. The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, and treat work-related injuries/exposures/ illness and evaluate outcomes. The position supports the non-occupational injury, illness return to work program, and pre-placement clearance process. The nurse practitioner is a highly valued clinical resource for the Boston University research community and participates in university sponsored wellness initiatives.
Required Skills
+ Master of Science degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program.
+ Active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Massachusetts (Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner) and active license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
+ 5-8 years of total NP experience with strong leadership skills and 2 years recent experience within the field of biosafety lab research.
+ Proficiency with phlebotomy skills desired, will train.
+ Active DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) prescribing license obtained in the state of Massachusetts or eligible to obtain DEA license. Active Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) or eligible to obtain MCSR.
+ Strong personal computer and technology skills including familiarity with case management software, electronic medical records, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of protected health and personal information and maintaining medical records in accordance with Boston University policy, state, and federal regulations.
