Berkshire Health Systems is seeking Family Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants to join their Hospitalist Services Healthcare Team in the McGee Unit! Our Hospitalist Department at Berkshire Medical Center and Fairview Hospital draw on specialists from emergency medicine, numerous surgical specialties (such as general surgery, vascular and thoracic care, orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery), neurology, cardiac care specialists, dentistry, psychiatric and behavioral health and more. Because this is not the traditional Hospitalist APP position specific duties are listed below. + The clinician will be the primary advance practice provider for patients on the McGee unit + Review ED notes regarding medical clearance. + Assess patients for SUD and related medical issues + Coordinate care of McGee patients, under the supervision of the Medical Director. + Ensure appropriate adherence to established McGee protocols + Facilitate client education and screening for SUD-related infectious issues, overdose screening and prevention, naloxone education. + Oversee patient screening and education for related high-risk behaviors. + The clinician will function with significant autonomy with regard to evaluation and consultation of hospitalized patients with Substance Use Disorders. + Obtain specific SU history and prior SU treatment + Review and evaluate appropriate use of medication supported treatment, as well as other supportive medication treatment as indicated. + Provide client education and screening for SUD-related infectious issues. + Incorporate risk reduction strategies into plan of care for patients with SUD. + Compose SUD Consultation documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR). + Review SUD patients on an ongoing basis with members of the team and physician director. + Responsible to direct, coordinate and evaluate efforts of other members of the SUD team. + Responsible for the ongoing education of physicians, advance practice providers, nursing personnel and ancillary staff in the assessment and management of patients with SUD. + Responsible for collaborating with nursing education department to provide updated SUD educational programs incorporating current evidence-based research and recommendations. + Responsible for collecting ongoing team metrics and assessing performance in collaboration with physician director.
