Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. We specialize in radiation oncology and are committed to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for those receiving cancer treatment. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join out radiation oncology team and contribute to this mission. This position will specialize in the care of patients with genitourinary malignancies. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients with genitourinary malignancies across the continuum of their care. Your role will involve assessing patient needs, managing treatment plans and delivering supportive care.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Performs and records the patient history and physical exam and discusses findings with the physician.
Utilizes advanced nursing knowledge to identify, prevent or solve complex and/o recurring patient care problems.
Follows and manages patients enhancing continuity of care.
Performs (oversees/ensures completion of) specialized procedures particular to the select population mutually agreed upon with collaborating physician.
Performs medically delegated aspects of patient care as agreed upon by nursing and medical administrations according to practice guidelines.
Collaborates with until staff and physicians to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources.
Writes orders with are in accord with current guidelines.
Maintains and practices in accord with practitioner guidelines per state and hospital regulations.
Evaluates own practice and program effectiveness.
Responsible for own professional growth and maintenance of required credentials.
Maintains and updates clinical knowledge skills based on current health care practice/research.


 

Job Summary

Summary<br>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting. <br>
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations. <br>
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. <br>
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. <br>
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. <br>
-Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries. <br>
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. <br>

Experience
2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience required

- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
