The Nurse Practitioner II/ Physican Assistant provides advanced nursing care to patients and families, requiring in-depth analysis and clinical expertise for complex cases, with less supervision. This role collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to manage ongoing patient care issues and assist in developing and implementing treatment plans while working closely with APNs, physicians, and other healthcare team members to enhance patient outcomes through organized and integrated intervention Supports: Hematology (Outpatient) Hours: 8am-5pm (Monday through Friday) Occasional weekend Job Responsibilities: Provide advanced nursing care to the patient and family that requires an in-depth analysis of various factors, under less supervision. Provide comprehensive clinical expertise in the direct care of complex patients. Support the management of ongoing patient care issues in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team. Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans, Coordinate patient care with ancillary clinical services. Support team in providing care for patients both in the outpatient clinic and the inpatient setting and addresses both acute and chronic issues in managing disease and treatment-related complications. Work closely with APNs'/ Physicians and other health care team members individually and on patient rounds to organize and integrate interventions so as to enhance patient outcomes. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: Master’s degree or higher in relevant field from an accredited program (Master’s of Science in Nursing OR Doctorate of Nurse Practice required) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), required. Advanced Certified Life Support (ACLS) preferred for Critical Care roles Minimum Experience: Minimum Requirement: 3+ years of relevant experience. Pediatrics preferred. Clinical experience required. Some experience assessing the learning needs and abilities of patients and families, to facilitate their development of self-care, preferred. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary identify and provide clinical care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served and can assess and interpret age-specific data about the patient’s status. Proven performance in earlier role. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law: Must possess a current Advanced Practice Nurse License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing (LC: AP-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state (LC:RN-TN) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state (LC: RN-ARK, RN-MISS or RN-KY) Supervising Physician: verified by St. Jude Managed Care Department (LC: SUPMD) Nurse Practitioner Certification: American Nurses Credentialing Center (LC:ANCC-NP) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (LC: AA-NP) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (LC: PNCB) Certificate of Fitness: State of Tennessee - Division of Health Related Boards (LC: CERTFIT) DEA certification: U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration within 6 months of employment (LC: DEA) Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to look at data more critically and draw meaningful conclusions. Conducts root-cause analysis as needed. Quickly rebounds from setbacks, including creating viable plans to move forward. Helps others understand the need for change and adapt to it. Promptly and effectively guides/ educates patients and their families while recognizing patient's unique needs and preferences. Independently seeks out and addresses concerns and uncertainties with patience and clarity. Escalates/ redirects effectively for appropriate patient guidance and query resolution with a focus on overall patient priorities. Independently addresses healthcare needs within own area, through strong medical/ clinical knowledge and skills; Demonstrates strong understanding of clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across various medical specialties. Is able to comprehend, translate, and interpret medical/ clinical information to provide high quality consultation. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
