Location: Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX
Department: HTPN Pulmonary and Critical Care
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days)

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nConduct comprehensive physical and mental assessments of patients through detailed examinations and medical histories.\nOrder, collect, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests to evaluate patient health and identify care needs.\nPrescribe medications, therapies, and procedures in line with established protocols, while focusing on safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.\nDevelop and implement patient-specific, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.\nEvaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust plans accordingly to optimize outcomes.\nProvide counseling and education to patients and families about health conditions, treatment options, medications, nutrition, and overall health management.\nMaintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting treatment plans and outcomes. Initiate consultations or referrals when necessary.\nPerform invasive procedures specific to the APP’s scope of practice and competency, as delegated by supervising physicians.\nParticipate in hospital rounds, assist with admissions and discharges, and provide on-call support when needed.\n\n

Qualifications

\n\nEducation: Graduate of an accredited program with certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC).\nExperience: At least 2 years of ICU experience preferred; inpatient care experience is also preferred..\n\n

Certifications:

\n

·       Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.

\n

·       Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.

\n

·       Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

\n\nEDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program\nEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Nurse Practitioner (NP)\nRegistered Nurse (RN)\nBasic Life Support (BLS): Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.\n\n

Acute Care Nrs Pract Cert (ACNP-BC), Acute Care NP-A Gerontology (ACNPC-AG), Neonatal NP (NNP-BC): Must have one of the following:

\n\nAcute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (ACNP-BC)\nAdult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (ACNPC-AG)\nNeonatal Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (NNP-BC).
