Responsibilities

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant I or Nurse Practitioner I) to provide comprehensive, evidence-based cancer care within the outpatient Medical Oncology team. As GU Oncology/Melanoma experts within the care team, the NP or PA will partner to treat and manage patients in all disease stages with curative and palliative-intent therapies.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic also may perform the following tasks in any authorized setting:

Obtaining patient historyPerforming physical examinationsOrdering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresFormulating a diagnostic impressionDeveloping and implementing a treatment planMonitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventionsOffering counseling and education to meet patient needsMaking appropriate referralsPrescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policiesDemonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy developmentOther departmental or institutional committee assignments as neededParticipate in research and educationEngage in tumor board discussions

Qualifications

Cancer experience is preferred.

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.  

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.  

Additional Qualifications: 

Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
