The Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the provision of comprehensive pediatric primary care to the NYF foster care population as assigned. Reports to the Medical Director, relates to the Director for Health Administration, and the appropriate Regional Directors.

Responsibilities The Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the provision of comprehensive pediatric primary care to the NYF foster care population as assigned. Reports to the Medical Director, relates to the Director for Health Administration, and the appropriate Regional Directors. Conduct and document a complete medical examination, including medical history, physical exam and interpretation of laboratory studies on children admitted into assigned NYF programs.Conduct and document periodic preventive medical evaluations in accordance with the schedule set forth by the AAP and the NYC ACS, to include ordering and interpreting screening tests and administering required immunizations.Evaluate children on an acute care basis and to render and document treatment according to the generally accepted standards of sound pediatric and adolescent medicine.Provide and document medical management of chronic health conditions in assigned foster care population.Make appropriate referrals to emergency rooms, sub-specialty clinics, private sub-specialists and other health care professionals when necessary. Referrals are to be done in writing and provide all information that the consultant would need in order to provide adequate care.Follow-up on children who require hospitalization via phone contact with the inpatient attending physician and document in the medical record.Complete medical forms and reports legibly and in a timely manner for children in assigned population.Incorporate health education and illness prevention strategies in all encounters with patients, their parents or foster parents.Review all health documents submitted to the agency regarding assigned foster care population.Coordinate, collaborate and communicate with internal and external health and mental health, childcare and social service professionals responsible for the care of assigned population.Keep abreast of the latest developments in pediatric and adolescent medicine through continuous review of the literature and through utilization of the time allotted for continuing education.Maintains and active collaborative practice agreement with a Licensed Board Certified Pediatrician as well as open and ongoing communication with that physician.

Salary Range:  $82.71 to $84.63 per hour ( bilingual additive of $3500)
