Summary
Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Genitourinary Surgical Oncology Department – Procedural
Based in the Genitourinary (Urology) Department, this position split between outpatient and OR (assisting in surgery) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG), supports department Urologic Oncology Surgeons, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.
Position Highlights:
· Assists physicians with the evaluation, management and treatment of a wide spectrum of patients with different surgical and medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities.
· Assists physicians in the OR and during surgery as a First Assist in Robotic and Open cases
· Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

Responsibilities:
· Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
· Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
· Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within scope of practice.
· Perform medical exams and admit patients to the surgical services of the GU Program.
· May respond to inpatient consult requests for the GU specialty, assess the patient and escalates as necessary.
· May perform minor surgical procedures within scope of practice.
· Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
· Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
· Assist in the OR in lieu of or in addition to, a Surgical Resident or Fellow. May bedside assist in both robotic, laparoscopic and open cases.
Additional Information
This position with specifically work with GU Surgical Oncologists in the treatment and management of their patients. They will assist in the outpatient clinic with MD Shared Clinics seeing new patients, established patients and post-operative patients. They will also assist in the OR with covering surgical GU cases with a supervising MD. They may assist the inpatient and outpatient care team under the guidance of the attending. This position will work closely with Residents and Fellows to care for the GU Surgical oncology patients. This position is Full-Time, Monday-Friday, with flexibility among days/times depending on department need, no overnights, no weekends.
Credentials and Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree at minimum; master's degree preferred.
· Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
· Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
· Active BLS and ACLS.
· Experience in surgery/OR, oncology or general internal medicine; experience specific to the specialty preferred.
· Experience as a First Assist/Bedside Assist in the OR preferred, Robotic Experience a plus, RNFA Certification a plus (if APRN).
