The Oregon Stroke Center at OHSU has been a national leader in stroke care and research since 1979. We were the first stroke center in the Northwest to: have a stroke clinic (1979); perform interventional stroke treatment (1991); treat with IV TPA (1991); coil an aneurysm (1992); do carotid stenting (1998); perform mechanical thrombectomy (2000); develop a clinical stroke database (2004); obtain stroke center certification (2006); develop local stroke clinics throughout the state (2010); and are the first hospital in nation to use IV Tenecteplase to treat stroke patients (2019). The stroke team is comprised of four stroke neurologists (one of which is also trained in interventional radiology), one stroke fellow, ANP, RN. and multiple clinical/research coordinators.
The Inpatient Stroke Service is composed of vascular neurologists, neurointerventionalists, neurosurgeons, an R.N. stroke care coordinator and many other supporting R.N.s, P.T./O.T., and case management.
