Operating Room
Experienced RNs new to the Perioperative Nursing looking to start in the operating room.
About the MGH Main OR Mass General Hospital’s Operating Room department is comprised of an outstanding team of OR nurses, Surgical Technologists, Equipment Techs, OR Assistants, and OR Coordinators providing care for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures.
Our patient population spans the range from neonates to seniors, with 16 services and 58 operating rooms including an intraoperative MRI surgical suite, Intraoperative CT scan Suite, robotic technology and much, much more. Opportunities exist to advance your practice from novice to expert in a multitude of surgical specialties. Staff are engaged in precepting new staff (both experienced and new to the environment) and students from various education programs. Staff also participate in staff development projects, shared governance committees, and process improvements projects on the unit.
RN Licensure in Massachusetts required.
BSN preferred.
Full time. - This position is for Evening/Night Rotation after completion of Perioperative 101 training program

Job Summary

Summary
Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.


Essential Functions
Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.

Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.

Record patients' medical information and vital signs.

Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.

Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.

Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.

Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Excellent verbal and communication skills.

Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
