Position Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for performing patient care activities/task for psychiatric patients as well as maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment under the direction of the licensed staff.

FLSA:       Non-Exempt

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Participates in nursing processes such as executing planned patient care interventions under the direction of a licensed nurse. 2. Assists the nurse with the data collection process during the patient assessment. 3. Contributes to the nursing care plan and assists in setting goals for the patient.  4. Participates in treatment planning and physician rounds. 5. Monitor patients, document observations and report observations to licensed staff. 6. Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff. 7. Provides patient education.  8. Conducts and documents environmental rounds.  9. Helps maintain a therapeutic milieu.   10. Interact with patients in a therapeutic manner. 11. Responsible for performing EKG’s, including blood glucose. 12. Monitors patient’s vital signs.  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

None.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma and currently enrolled in a professional nursing program.

 

Minimum Experience:

A junior or senior in a bachelor’s program and
Currently enrolled in a professional nursing program, at an accredited school of nursing, with passing grades at all times.

 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
